When it comes to sending out parcels to your clients or loved ones, there’s more to it than simply stuffing a parcel into a box and sending it on its way. Putting it together the right way is very important! No one wants to open a gift only to discover it has been tampered with, and while accidents sometimes occur, many of them are usually avoidable. Make sure your parcels get to their destination this year by following these five packaging techniques. They will help you keep your delivery safe.
- Use a brand-new, double-walled box to package your things.
Using a brand-new box is critical to guaranteeing the protection of your items. Using previously used boxes will not provide the same level of protection as new packaging, and the more fragile your package is, the greater the impact. In fact, the recommended packing solution is modern, double-walled boxes. Double-walled cardboard boxes are made out of two sheets of corrugated cardboard that are tightly glued together to safeguard the contents.
2. Make use of a lot of internal packing.
It’s usually a good idea to stuff your shipment with lots of internal packaging, such as bubble wrap or foam, regardless of its size. We recommend a minimum of 5 cm, or 10 sheets, of internal packaging for each parcel because each additional layer of packaging gives an extra layer of protection for your parcel. If your parcels are much smaller than the box you’re carrying them in, make sure it’s also stuffed with foam or bubble wrap to prevent interior damage.
3. Before purchasing a box to convey your delivery items, double-check the maximum weight of the box.
Before you buy, double-check the maximum weight capacity and weigh your stuff. If you choose packaging that isn’t capable of handling your load, your things are likely to be damaged during delivery. It’s also a good idea to weigh and measure your boxed package before sending it out. This assures you that you won’t be charged extra if your package is larger or heavier than you originally declared.
4. Avoid using fabric or cloth bags to wrap your parcels.
Although they may appear to be more attractive than a typical box, putting your belongings in cloth or fabric bags provides only modest protection. When receiving a parcel delivery, most of us are more concerned with the contents of the package than with how it appears when it arrives. Choose a strong, durable material that will keep your packages intact after delivery.
5. Seal your package with thick packing tape.
Sealing your parcel with household sticky tape or string is just not strong enough to endure shipping. When it comes to sealing your packages, make sure you use durable parcel tape. Once you’re satisfied that the box is tight, wrap the tape around all of the sides to reinforce the corners and ensure your shipment doesn’t fall open during transit.
All of these suggestions are especially relevant for any situation in which you are sending out packages. Remember that just adding a “fragile” or “handle with care” label isn’t a replacement for cautious packaging when the volume of parcels being handled is at its peak. Frequently, parcels are handled by machines that read the additional labels.
